All Ballistol felt cleaners are made of pure wool felt. However, the "Spezial" pellets are really something special, having brass fibers incorporated into the felt.
Special felt cleaners are designed for the intensive cleaning of heavily fouled gun barrels. The gun cleaning felts for stubborn fouling are individually optimized for each caliber. By attaching to the felt holder, the special felt cleaner is slightly stretched. As a result, the very firm but somewhat flexible felt material is slightly larger than the respective caliber. This small plus tolerance ensures, that the special felt cleaner presses firmly against the barrel walls. The fields and grooves are thoroughly cleaned with the special felt cleaner.
Felt cleaners made of pure sheep wool are extremely absorbent. Gun oil and cleaning chems are picked up by the felt cleaners and evenly distributed as they pass through the barrel.
